A tidy solar array on a grey tile roof, seen from above

An electrical contractor that specialised into solar, not the other way round.

Twelve years in the electrical trade, the last eight of them in solar. Same licence, same standard, and the same company answering the phone years after the job is finished.

Who you are actually dealing with

SolArk Electrical is an electrical and solar contractor working across Perth metro and surrounds. It was founded by Jack Keily on twelve years in the electrical industry, the first four as a general electrician and the last eight in solar, and that order is still how the business is built.

Plenty of solar companies are sales operations that later added an electrician. The quote comes from one business and the install goes to whichever subcontractor is free that week. SolArk works the other way round. It is an electrical contractor that specialised into solar, and every job is quoted, designed, installed and tested by SolArk's own people, which is why the switchboard, the isolators and the cable runs get the same attention as the panels.

You will not always deal with the same person from the first call to handover, and that is deliberate. The people who assess a job, design it and install it are not the same people, and each is better at their part than one person would be at all three. What does not change is that every one of them works for SolArk. Nothing is subcontracted, and nobody is paid per job to be finished and gone.

What we will and will not do

We size systems to your bills rather than your roof space. If a smaller system suits you better, we say so. We have talked customers out of batteries that did not suit their situation, and we would rather do that than sell something that disappoints in year three.

We do not subcontract. Our own installers do every job, which is the only way to keep the standard the same from one house to the next. And we work Perth metro and surrounds rather than spreading ourselves thin across the state, because being close enough to come back matters more than being able to say we go everywhere.

The line we keep coming back to: don't let cowboys stomp around on your roof or pull around on your wiring. It is not marketing. It is the reason the business is set up the way it is.

The small things, done anyway

Every time we are at a property we test the RCDs to confirm the safety switches actually trip, and check the smoke alarms are in date and working. Nobody asks us to and it does not go on the invoice. Both devices fail silently, both take minutes to check, and finding out the hard way is not worth leaving on the table.

The bit most installers skip

These are things we have done for real customers, not service promises we have written down and hoped nobody tests.

The board done properly

Solar jobs where the switchboard was brought up to standard as part of the install rather than left for somebody else, because there was no room in it for what was going on the roof.

A sale talked out of

A commercial customer looking at a battery that did not suit their situation. Their words afterwards: you've talked us out of it.

The old system taken away

Where a system is being replaced, the old panels and inverter come off, leave with us and go for recycling. It is part of the job, not an extra line on the invoice.
