Signs to look for

Signs you need more power points

Extension leads are a symptom. These are the usual ones.

  • Power boards plugged into power boards behind the TV or the desk.

  • Extension leads across the floor or out to the shed or patio.

  • A new oven, cooktop or pool heat pump that needs its own circuit.

  • Nowhere to plug in outside for the barbecue, the pool or the garden tools.

  • A home office or garage running everything off one power point.

What we install

Extension leads are a symptom

If a room runs on double adaptors and a lead across the floor, the problem is not the lead, it is that the house was wired for a different decade. Adding outlets is cheap, fast and one of the few electrical jobs where the improvement is obvious the same day.

The other half of this job is knowing when a normal outlet is not enough. Pool heat pumps, ovens, induction cooktops, workshop gear and EV chargers need dedicated circuits, and sometimes a 15 amp outlet rather than a standard one.

They gave me some great ideas for placements of PowerPoints and downlights.

Renovations and kitchens

Kitchens are where outlet placement matters most and gets decided too late. We will walk the plan with you before anything is cut in, including where the appliances will actually sit and which side their leads come out of.

  • Single and double outlets, indoors and out.
  • USB and USB-C combination outlets.
  • Weatherproof outdoor and alfresco outlets.
  • 15 amp outlets for caravans, welders and larger appliances.
  • Dedicated circuits for heat pumps, ovens, cooktops and pool equipment.
  • Floor and bench outlets for kitchen islands and desks.
  • Existing outlets replaced where they are cracked, loose or discoloured.

How it works

How the job runs

  1. Where and how many

Walk us through the rooms, or send photos. Tell us what plugs into what, because that decides whether a standard outlet will do.

  2. Standard or dedicated

Ovens, cooktops, pool equipment, workshop gear and EV chargers need their own circuit. We tell you which of yours does before quoting.

  3. Installed

Cut in, run, terminated and tested. Weatherproof enclosures and RCD protection on anything outdoors, which is where the common shortcut lives.

  4. Tested and checked

Every new outlet tested under load, plus the standard RCD and smoke alarm check.

  5. Aftercare

The same number to ring if anything is not right afterwards. Your guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law apply to our work, as our Warranty Terms set out.

FAQs

Questions we get asked

Can you add a power point to an existing wall?

Usually, yes. On brick with a gyprock lining it is straightforward. Solid double brick or a wall with no accessible ceiling space above it takes more work, and we will tell you that before we start rather than after.

What is a dedicated circuit and do I need one?

A circuit that serves one appliance and nothing else. You need one for ovens, cooktops, pool heat pumps, EV chargers and most workshop equipment, because sharing the circuit is what causes nuisance tripping.

Do outdoor points need anything special?

Yes. Weatherproof enclosures rated for the location, and RCD protection. An indoor outlet in an outdoor box is a common and genuinely dangerous shortcut.

Can you install USB outlets?

Yes, including USB-C. Worth doing in bedrooms and beside the kitchen bench where phone chargers otherwise occupy a whole outlet.

Amazing job by the team on my kitchen renovation. They were fast during the disconnection, and gave me some great ideas for placements of PowerPoints and downlights. They came back and installed a sensor in my pantry so I'm not always leaving my light on.

Outstanding Perth electrician. Jack and the team were knowledgable and professional, answering all of the questions I had regarding the installation of a new induction cooktop and oven during kitchen renovation.
