Signs to look for

Signs ducted is worth a look

Zoning is the conversation worth having first.

  • Several split systems and still rooms that never get comfortable.

  • An evaporative system that cannot keep up on humid days.

  • You cool the whole house when you only use half of it at night.

  • A new build or major renovation where the ducts can go in before the ceiling is finished.

  • An older ducted system that has started making noise or losing airflow.

What is included

What the install covers

What we install

Ducted installation, from the heat load calculation through to the last zone being tested with you standing there. The electrical side, the ducting and the zoning all get decided together rather than in three separate conversations after the fact.

Zoning is the decision that matters

Most complaints about ducted systems are zoning complaints in disguise. Bedrooms on the same zone as the living area means you are cooling four empty rooms to keep one comfortable. Zones grouped around how the house is actually used, day zone and night zone at minimum, is what makes a ducted system cheap to run rather than expensive.

Sized to the house, zoned to how you use it, and the switchboard done at the same time.

New builds and renovations

Ducted is far easier and cheaper before the ceiling closes. If you are building or doing a major renovation, get the ducted layout decided at the same time as the electrical rough in. Retrofits into an existing home are entirely possible, they just need more thought about where the duct can actually run.

Running cost and solar

Ducted is the biggest single load most Perth homes add. Sized and zoned well and paired with solar it is affordable to run. Sized generously with no zoning it is the reason people leave it switched off.

  • Heat load worked out room by room, not estimated from floor area.
  • Zoning planned around how the house is used, with day and night zones as a minimum.
  • Outlet positions set for airflow, and returns sized properly rather than as an afterthought.
  • Indoor unit sited for service access, because someone has to get to it later.
  • Duct runs kept short and insulated, since long runs in a hot roof waste capacity.
  • Dedicated circuit and isolator from the switchboard.
  • Controller placed where you will use it, and every zone tested and demonstrated.

How it works

How the job runs

  1. Heat load, room by room

Worked out properly rather than estimated off floor area, because zoning decisions depend on it.

  2. Zoning around your life

Day zone and night zone at minimum, more if the house is used in a way that justifies it. This is the decision that makes a ducted system cheap or expensive to run.

  3. Install

Indoor unit sited for service access, ducts kept short and insulated, outlets and returns sized properly rather than as an afterthought.

  4. Commissioned zone by zone

Every zone tested with you, controller placed where you will actually use it, and the standard RCD and smoke alarm check done.

  5. Aftercare

The same number to ring if anything is not right afterwards. Your guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law apply to our work, as our Warranty Terms set out.

FAQs

Questions we get asked

Ducted or multiple split systems?

Ducted suits whole-house comfort and looks tidier. Multiple splits suit houses where only one or two rooms need conditioning, and they let you run just that room. We will give you the honest comparison for your house rather than the one with the bigger invoice.

How many zones do I need?

Most homes want a minimum of a day zone and a night zone. Beyond that it depends on how the house is used. More zones cost more up front and save money every day afterwards.

Can it be retrofitted to an existing house?

Usually yes, provided there is enough roof space for the indoor unit and the duct runs. We check that on site before quoting.

Do you service ducted systems?

We install ducted air conditioning. If you have an existing system that needs attention, ring us anyway and we will point you in the right direction.

Does it need a switchboard upgrade?

Sometimes. A ducted system is a substantial load and needs its own circuit. If the board is full or old, that gets quoted with it rather than sprung on you on the day.

Team led by Jack, fast professional install. I was kept up to date through the process, then given a full explanation on the unit, even took away rubbish, not filling my bins. Very happy with service.
